Hello again tweeps, this time my post has zilch to do w/ SEO… I am happy to say though, social media rawks! And I’d like to use a bit of Social Media to help my friend Blow Out her charity event! One of my close friends growing up, Rita Ralph, is now without a sister.
Since I have a ton of twitter buds I figured I’d extend the digital olive branch and let any of my tweeps help out. I know most, if any of you, don’t actually know her… good news is you didn’t need to know her to know that she was a great woman who unfortunately / unexpectedly left 2 children behind when she was murdered. You hear about this kind of stuff all the time in the news, but it’s not often that it hits this close to home. All I ask is that you read the below note from Amy Pickard (a great friend, and her hubby schools me in golf </sidenote>) Amy is organizing the entire effort and has put together a great event.
What we need now is donations of any kind (I don’t care if it’s a $5 item or a $5k item – ANYTHING HELPS!) – Contact Amy via her email addy, or if you want, you can get a hold of me too… She needs everything for a 2/13/10 meeting to get everything set up for the 2/19/10 benefit for Sharrin’s kids. Anything will work folks… lets see what the ‘geek’ community can get together to help out some kids that lost their Mother.

Re: Sharon Ralph-Miller
Well my blog friends… I figured it’s about time that I finally updated my blog w/ a quick post to at the very
least let you know what I’ve been up to since March (when I posted last – *sorry*) Brian Mark and I have been busy starting a new business – Shade Tree Marketing LLC – While the final paperwork is being finished up I figured I’d give a little background on the name…. A how we arrived @ STM.
Years ago (pre – 9/11) I was in the Timeshare industry selling timeshares! I know, I know, please don’t hold that against me! Anyways one thing I heard time and time again from the folks sitting in front of me was this – “We’d love to vacation more, We’d love to have a timeshare… someday” Well here’s the problem w/ that statement… SOMEDAY never comes…
When your young & first married… you’re working on career’s – trying to find a first home, start a family, etc… etc… etc… and it’s not the right time to start vacationing… Then when your blessed w/ a family… it’s hard to travel w/ babies / small children (and the vacation becomes a much different experience). Then the kids get older, have soccer, baseball, ballet, horse camp, etc… Summers are pretty much booked solid. Then by the time the kids are in college – well you get the point – people can find all kinds of excuses as to why they cannot do the things they wanted to do when they were younger. Others jump in with both feet and make it work.
So back to the name of the new company… Shade Tree Marketing – When I would hear this “Someday we’d love to ________” I would stop them in their excuse making cycle and ask them this one question.
So as we got up this morning and realized that the trees have all changed colors, some of our plants are dying from the cold… and we still don’t know our way around very well after having been here for 3 months now… We decided it was time to go and do some GeoCaching! Now I have been using a Garmin hand held just like the guys over at GeoTeaming.com told me to when I got started in the game. Now in hindsight – I wish I would have gone a bit more high tech (being that I’m a puter geek an all).
So before we set out to go this morning I realized I needed to plug the ‘ol iPhone in for a charge if we were going to be out of the house for a bit. Then it hit me… I wonder if there’s an app @ the app store for geocaching? 1 Googly woogly later and I’m downloading a $9.99 app (the good ones usually require you to buy them) and I must say at under 10 bucks – turning my phone into a $300 GPS tracking device = BRILLIANT!
Oh yeah… And sorry first gen’ers this won’t work on your iphone… just the new ones! I’m pretty excited to see this thing in action… we’ll still bring the other GPS (since this hunt is in beta) and @mrsneo can run that one… Will be nice to see which gets a better signal and which gets us closer to the prize at the end of the trail!
Happy Caching!
Yeah you read that right! Go out and VOTE people! Enjoy the day, and be happy that we get to vote and choose our next leader! I do want to let you all know about a very serious problem that we have here on the internets… Jon Stewart covered this a few years ago – and I just don’t think that enough people paid attention to the underlying issues of congestion and clogging! So here to explain w/ a short video – Jon Stewart from the daily show!
Now that you understand better how the internets works… give it a break today and lets make sure everyones Vote gets counted!
Happy Halloween all! So there was a prank pulled today… I was told everyone at the office goes all out for Halloween, everyone dresses up and it’s pretty much expected that EVERYONE wear something. So as you can see I came dressed as NeO (did you think I’d be something else?) – No one else dressed up and everyone’s had a good chuckle at the ‘new guy’
So did any other SEO’s dress up for work today? I’d love to see pictures! Just leave a comment w/ a link to your outfit and I’ll check it out!
